Whether you are an introverted solopreneur or not, loneliness can strike at any time. Loneliness is solopreneurship is real. You often find yourself staying up late. When it comes to our ideas and anxieties, no one, not even our spouses, can exactly relate to them. You see, it can be hard for others to understand.
Even if you’re living a remote life as a solopreneur, there are effective ways to overcome loneliness. Don’t let it take a toll on your health and well-being! When it strikes, be sure to follow my pieces of advice.
1. Get a Betta Fish.
The betta fish is actually the Siamese Fighting fish. These fishes live in rice paddies in Asian countries like Thailand and Cambodia. A betta fish makes a perfect companion for a busy solopreneur because it’s basically low-maintenance. It thrives in fish bowls and doesn’t require a lot of space.
Perhaps the one thing that’ll catch your eye is its beautiful colors. Some say that a betta fish is a boring pet because it doesn’t have that much to do. But many also say that staring at a betta fish is very relaxing! Not just that, a betta fish has a curious personality, can recognize you as its owner, and may even perform tricks!
2. Get a Marimo Moss Ball.
This one’s a type of alga shaped like a sphere. Marimo moss balls are squishy and have been known to relieve stress! As a low-maintenance aquarium plant, a marimo moss ball makes the perfect companion for your betta fish. It floats freely in your fish bowl which is a sight to behold.
Want to enjoy the company of your betta longer? Get a marimo moss ball. It detoxifies the water to keep your little friend healthy!
3. Put up Photos of Friends, Family, and Fun Memories.
It’s no secret that images of people who are dear to us make us feel loved, safe, and a little less lonely. If a picture included you, you can imagine yourself being in that moment when you swam at the beach with your mother or took your kid on a trip.
Hang these beautiful photos on your wall or adorn your desk with them. Make sure that you can easily view them anytime.
4. Use Video for Communication.
Advancements in technology make it extremely convenient for solopreneurs to communicate face-to-face. Instead of simply calling your loved ones or VA, use video communication instead. Great apps to try include Skype, Google Hangouts, and FaceTime (for Apple users).
There’s no better way to connect online than video. Video doesn’t just ease loneliness, it helps you get the right message across.
5. Join a Co-working Space Like WeWork.
You have to admit: Despite your pet fish and photos to keep you company, sometimes you just want to get out and be with others – without being disturbed! Co-working spaces are amazing. WeWork is a company that provides shared workspaces for entrepreneurs, startups, and solopreneurs.
Check if a WeWork location is available nearby. Co-working spaces allow you to access scanners, photocopiers, refreshments, enjoy natural lighting and other utilities. Best of all, you get the chance to meet like-minded solopreneurs for inspiration!
