Do you want to become a successful solopreneur? Of course, you do! When it comes to success, most people assume that they need to work on their weaknesses until they become their strengths.
The truth is, you need to spend the majority of your time focusing on your strengths — what you’re already good at. Because if you do, you get to come up with ideas and solutions that none of your competitors will be able to.
Remember: Time is essential. Use it wisely to accelerate growth by leveraging your strengths.
To use your strengths to their fullest, first, you must admit that you’re not polished in all things. Admit that you have weaknesses and that being weak in some areas of your business is totally normal.
3 Ways To Discover What Your Strengths Are
In today’s post, I will teach you 3 essential steps to knowing and developing your strengths so that you can use them to your advantage. Not only in your solopreneur business, but also in life.
1. Recall winning moments in your life.
They don’t have to be huge occasions like competitions. An example of a winning moment is when a student gets a big grade in speaking class. That student could do well in podcasting if he was a solopreneur. Remember when people appreciate you for doing something they can’t do. Maybe that’s writing, doing the math, or designing.
2. Ask yourself, “What tasks make me feel my best?”
As solopreneurs who strive to do our best in everything, we’re compelled to just go through the motions to get things done. But doing this is a total waste of time. If there are tasks in your business that you can’t help but feel excited about, these are your strengths. In my case, I feel energized when I’m about to write a blog post. I am already aware that blogging is my strength and I vow to become a better blogger each day so I can further satisfy the needs of my readers.
3. Ask people close to you.
Do you have people around you who know you well? Maybe your spouse, brother or sister, friend, or mentor. Asking them what they believe your strengths are is the easiest way to gain more insight. You might even be surprised by their answers. Sometimes, people close to you know you better than you know yourself.
What Must You Do About Your Weaknesses?
Hate the technical aspect of your website? Designing landing pages? Creating videos? No matter what you’re bad at, you know that there are times when you have no choice but to do the work — even if the outcome will be less stellar. And that’s okay. But if your weaknesses will negatively impact your business’ bottom line, you need to do this…
Outsource!
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Build a team, even if it’s a small team. You have to start somewhere. Some people are experts in what you lack and they will take your business to the next level if you let them.
