Solo-managing your business is demanding. It will not only require much of your time but also a lot of your energy. You might be doing your business while working on a job, or you might be a full-time solopreneur. Either way, you will reach a point of exhaustion and when this happens, your business tops growing.
To keep it running and at its best, you need to keep your energy up. How do you do that? Here’s are my eight tips for you:
1. Eat in a smart way
Eating too many carbohydrates in one meal. To avoid this, eat a balanced diet. Eating too much, in general, gives off a weakening effect. Instead, eat frequently in smaller servings. Since tiredness can also be caused by anemia, eat foods that are rich in iron. Examples are dark green vegetables, organ meats, and shellfish.
2. Exercise regularly
Exercising regularly tames your body to release endorphins. Endorphins are hormones that make you feel good and boost energy levels. As a result, your performance improves. Getting accustomed to this cycle will also lead to better sleep quality!
3. Stay hydrated
Drink water and keep your electrolytes at healthy levels. Having a body that is properly hydrated allows you to work productively for a longer period of time. Dehydration decreases your mental focus and triggers fatigue. It goes the same with your sleep quality — a dry mouth and nasal passage will make your sleep quality bad. Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to grab a glass of water and rising in the morning still feeling tired.
4. Take supplements
Tiredness can be caused by a lack of vitamins and minerals. Incorporate vitamin and mineral supplements into your daily diet. Other supplements that boost your energy include Asian Ginseng, Coenzyme Q10, and Beetroot Powder. Be sure to consult with your doctor before taking any supplement.
5. Get proper rest and sleep
Adults require 7-9 hours of sleep to function at their best. So get those hours of sleep especially every night. If you’re at work, take naps to refresh yourself. I advice napping for 20 minutes when you feel drained in the middle of the day. Also, take short walk breaks if you’ve been sitting for too long. Stand up and do some stretchings when taking a breather.

6. Stay away from caffeine, alcohol, and tobacco
While caffeine gives a temporary boost, it may leave you feeling tired later. On the other hand, tobacco is a psychoactive stimulant. It increases the activity of the central nervous system but will weaken your cardiovascular health. Alcohol messes up the body balance and dehydrates you. It ruins your sleep quality. Ditch all of these things and let your body work in a natural way!
7. Seek a professional
Despite following all the tips above, you still feel tired all the time. In some cases, you might have a health condition. Go to a doctor and get diagnosed. There might be a problem with your physiology that you don’t know about.
8. Reduce stress
Whether you’re experiencing physical stress from doing a lot of things or mental stress from thinking too much, both can take a toll on your business. Destress! Travel somewhere alone, lose yourself in a good book, or simply get more sleep at night.
