To live a life of a successful solopreneur, you need to give a lot of your time to manage and grow your business. It isn’t easy and it’s even harder for those who are just starting up in their venture.
Allowing yourself to give all your time to work may help your business grow but it also affects your overall well-being. In the long term, this could affect your efficiency as a business person. That’s why it’s important that you should let out pressure sometimes. Here are ways to do it.
1. Take a vacation and fully unplug
Go out of town or out of the country then block out all communications from the office and your subordinates. Be unreachable. Get the most of your vacation time.
2. Forget balance, find harmony
Don’t focus on allocating balanced time for both life and work alone. Strive to make everywhere you go a peaceful and stress-free environment.
3. Know your breaking point
When you’ve had enough from work, don’t suppress your emotion. Stand up, leave the office, and unwind even if you’re not done. Just continue tomorrow.
4. Make sleep a priority
Netflix won’t go anywhere and social media can wait for tomorrow. If it’s time to sleep, put down your devices, put on your jammies, and quickly hit the hay. Get 7 to 9 hours of sleep every night.
5. Maintain a routine
One major cause of burnout is chaos in day-to-day activities. By following a routine from day to night, you’ll feel less stressed because everything you’ll do will happen as expected.
6. Eat better and cut your caffeine intake
Junk foods are mostly processed with high amounts of sugar. Caffeine makes your heart palpitate. Eat healthily. Draw fuel from foods rich in vitamins and minerals such as vegetables, red meat, and fruits. Don’t rely on caffeinated drinks for an energy boost. Start saying goodbye to them by drinking decaf and electrolyte-packed drinks.
7. Stop saying “yes” to everything
If it’s not your job to do it then don’t do it. If you have a lot on your hands, give it to someone else. Don’t bite off more than you can chew.
8. Schedule time for yourself
Workaholism may be good for your business but it isn’t for your personal well-being. Ask yourself, “What do you really want to do?” Schedule a time to do it and make it happen.
9. Let go of unreasonable standards
Perfection is good but striving to be 100% all the time is very consuming. It also consumes your sanity. If you have found a way to make things work safely, call it a day and leave it that way.
10. Remember that the world isn’t fair
If something goes wrong or others have done you wrong, don’t obsess about them. It will only give them power. There are things in life out of your control and focusing on yourself is much more important.
11. Be nice, feel better
Making yourself feel wonderful sometimes starts when you make someone else’s day sunny. So don’t forget to show kindness. One good act may not change the world but it changes the one you’ve helped and yourself.
12. Get Up 15 Minutes Early
In a world where everything is rushing, those who live in it feel stressed and panicked. Go against the flow. By waking up early, you allow yourself to move slowly giving yourself a peaceful start to the day.
13. Fill your day with joy
If there’s an opportunity to smile, take it. Even if it’s mundane to others. Don’t let others judge you for your source of happiness.
