Since you’re doing everything by yourself, and if you’re working on your business as a newbie, sticking to your goals can be challenging. This is especially true if you’ve set several goals at once!
As a solopreneur who’s been around for a long time already, I’ve experienced situations where months have gone by and no change has happened in my business. Because of these situations, I’ve learned to identify what works and what doesn’t, as well as little tweaks solopreneurs can implement to get what they really want.

Work on fewer goals.
We operate in an era where information is everywhere. Because we’re bombarded with so many messages, it’s easy to want plenty of things at the same time! The antidote is to focus on fewer goals. If you can set only two goals, that would be best. By doing that, you can give one goal greater focus and attention, and maximize results.

Learn how to manage distractions.
Solopreneurs who work from home often struggle with distractions because basically, their devices are their office… and being connected to the internet offers plenty of opportunities to get distracted. What you can do is to manage the notifications that come from your work devices – notifications from Facebook, email, and collaboration tools. In fact, turn them off during work hours.
Be honest about the things that are not working.
You might not be aware of it, but there are things in your business that are “broken.” The same is true for the rest of the businesses in the world. What are these things? They can be your schedule, habits, tools, marketing strategies, and even the people you work with. Take a day to evaluate your progress and plan where to head next.
Have someone to discuss ideas with.
Find someone, whether the person is in the same niche or not, who’s willing to offer feedback and share ideas. Think of an accountability partnership. To make it work for you, choose somebody who can be available to meet with you in person or online and has a thriving business.
Set milestones to achieve along the way!
Milestones are accomplishments that take you closer to your end goal. For example, if you’re aiming to launch your website in a year, milestones can include finishing the layout of your site and the set-up of important pages. Milestones allow you to stay on track especially if a goal seems really far off. Milestones make the journey exciting!
Put in the time needed.
Successful people know that they need to invest time into something to make it happen. If you’re going to stay on top of content production, that means spending about two hours or more each day to create content. Decide how much time you’re going to spend on a goal and commit to it. Anticipate other things that can come up anytime to allow for a flexible schedule.
