Most solopreneurs work very hard, day and night, to reach a goal. After they do, they move on to the next goal… and then the next… and then the next. The grind doesn’t stop, does it?
As a solopreneur and a destination-focused individual, I know that solopreneurs like myself can get to a point where they’ll feel too exhausted. This often happens to people who, after sleepless nights, realize that things didn’t go as planned.
But they wouldn’t be that miserable if they paused and enjoyed the moments of running their business. There’s popular saying for this: “It’s the journey, not the destination.” Enjoying the ride also means living in the present moment and being mindful.
If you want to be happy while reaching your goals, here are my top tips for you:
Pick something that you enjoy doing!
Life is short. Time flies by so fast. Why not focus on tasks that make you feel alive, happy, or excited? That task could be writing blog posts, creating social media messages, or creating a podcast episode. The rest could be outsourced. What’s also great is that you get to have extra free time!
Set “safety” goals.
This strategy teaches you to expand your view of success. Because more often than not, we set goals that are too high and then beat ourselves up for failing to accomplish them. Safety goals are the kind of goals that are never impossible to achieve if you show up and do the work. Safety goals don’t just help you hit the mark, but they also reduce an all-or-nothing way of thinking.
Don’t try to do it all at once.
You might think that you’re doing an awesome job at tackling different tasks at once, but the truth is that multitasking only messes with your brain. Not only does it force you to engage several mental processes, but it also decreases the quality of your work.
Learn to adapt as the situation demands.
Adaptability means being open to new ideas and shifting your focus depending on the situation at hand. By being adaptable, you no longer see challenges as threats but rather as opportunities to experiment and use your creativity. During these times, be open to making mistakes.
Discover new skills in scary moments.
Moments that push you past your comfort zone allow you to find great skills you never knew you had. The lesson is to look for skills in unstable, crazy situations and appreciate yourself in the process. Stability kills learning.
Final Thoughts
Solopreneurship is a journey where you learn and grow continuously. Having fun while you go through challenges makes life flow easier. You don’t want to be a sick, dull, and boring solopreneur do you?
